Welding Condition Settings Screen

Basic conditions for welding, target voltage, target feeding speed, target speed and detailed welding process parameters can be set. As a welding machine was selected in the previous step, the target condition is limited to the min/max output of that welding machine.

Welding conditions can be adjusted for voltage, feeding speed, estimated current and movement speed. As MIG/MAG welding uses a constant-voltage welding machine, if the target voltage is constant, the output voltage will be constant as well. On the other hand, the output current of the welding machine varies according to the welding voltage and the basic material, as well as the feeding speed, material, type and stick-out length of the welding wire. In order to monitor the welding current during welding, the current monitoring channel of the welding machine or a separate current sensor must be connected. The unit for welding speed is cm/min (or inch/min). Be aware that the programming command uses mm/sec for the motion speed input.

Basic Welding Condition Items

Detailed welding process variables for welding can be set (voltage command, feeding speed target, estimated current, speed target).

  • Target: The target value or target corresponds to this condition during welding, and it can be adjusted during welding.
  • Machine Limits: The welding settings are limited according to the min./max. welding conditions of the designated welding machine. Refer to the Set Machine section.
  • Estimated Current: Enter the estimated current generated at the set target voltage and feeding speed target. The entered value is only used for heat input calculation and will not be reflected in the actual welding condition.

4

Heat Input Calculation

There are occasions where heat input during welding is controlled. Press the Auto Calculation button to calculate the estimated heat input based on the voltage, estimated current and speed conditions. The formula for calculating the relation between the voltage, current and heat input is as follows:

  • Heat Input (KJ/cm) = 60 X Voltage (V) X Current (A) / Welding Speed (cm/min) / 1000

5

Welding Condition Item

This is the item that is set to synchronize the gas discharge at the start/end of welding, the start/end signal for voltage/current supply, and the start/end of motion. It can also define the welding current/voltage condition at the start of welding.
